Common Misconceptions about ADHD: Some common misconceptions about Adult ADHD are that you should “just try harder,” "not be so lazy," “be more motivated” or “try to live up to your potential” or that ADHD is a "made up" diagnosis.
ADHD symptoms: Symptoms of ADHD, distraction, impulsivity, difficulty with organization, time management , and follow-through can affect your quality of life. You may develop negative feelings about yourself, that can be reinforced by others' misconceptions about ADHD and the negative messages you may get from them.
ADHD Diagnosis: Everyone has experienced some symptoms of ADHD. Everyone has been distracted. Many people have problems with disorganization. But to have a diagnosis of Adult ADHD, symptoms must cause significant difficulties at school or work, in relationships, or in social settings.
Coping Skills: You may have developed coping skills to help you deal with the challenges of ADHD. But when faced with
increased pressures, such as starting college, getting a new job or another significant life change, sometimes the
skills worked in the past may no longer be enough.
Develop New Skills with Effective Counseling: If you have been diagnosed with, or suspect that you may have
